You are an early bird, aren\’t you ! In winter I am sure I would not get any such picture … ZZZZZZZzzzzzzzzzzz (still fast asleep …).

Steve! What a great shot. What a tough shot to capture. I\’m impressed. I get up at 4am every day to go to work. I love the morning. The hour just before sunrise, false dawn. In the summer, the air is so still and soft and quiet.

Thank you so much for your kind words. It is friends like you, who brighten my world, and make the hard times easier.
I wish for you and your family a peaceful joyous time, with the prospect of exciting adventures to come in the New Year.

    Hiya Steve !,
Thankyou for your comment on my blog about me and Woody.  Yes i have a wonderful feeling about him, nothing like the other guys.  This is the real deal my friend !
I have been reading through your other blogs and the one about being cold made me laugh when you said about nostril hairs being frozen LOL !!  I could think of many things getting frozen, how you survive in such cold conditions amazes me, i would surely die if it were me !
I took some sunrise and sunset pics today.  The first time in ages i went out with my camera.  Even Woody came out with me, and was amazed as he\’d never experienced going out just to take photo\’s of such things before.  So it was fun, and i have put them on my space now.
It feels good to gradually get back to being my old self, but much happier this time round…..takings pics, hopefully soon more paintings and poetry, the world is my oyster at last !!
Steve, i hope you are all healthy and happy. I can\’t wait til we have a chin wag on msn again, and for you to get to know Woody.
    Be Happy my friend,
    Love Mandy Marie xx

Okay, how did you manage to get that exposure so it captured both the moon and the city lights?  Looks wonderful.
Loved the story of your dog getting up on the roof.  That must have been one snowy year!
Hope you\’re having a great day up there in the cold.
    Barb 🙂

  6. Kuskulana says:

    Well Barb;
I was taking multiple shots with the intent of combining a couple in the editor to get good exposure on the moon and city lights.
As the moon approaces the horizon it becomes dimmer and orange due to the atmosphere, much like a sunset.
Usually however it dissapears before it sets, due to haze.
It was so clear and cold (below zero F) that it was visible and not too distorted all the way down.
So it was just a matter of the right timing!
I got a whole series to play with too, when I get time…

Good Lord what an impressive shot Steve! You are defintely an early bird. But this is proof that the early bird catches the worm. 😉

  8. Nessa says:

Amazing clarity.  There is a lovely clear frosty night out tonight with a lovely half moon and so tried to get a shot of it with my moon = nope = the moon ends up looking like an egg timer.  it is times like these I think about getting a real camera like you use – when I have the money to do so I will be asking your advice – as usual 🙂

  9. Cindy says:

Do you ever sleep?  Love the shots.

  10. PEP says:

Who stole my cheese? Just kidding.
