Grey Day Color

There are a lot of murals on city walls in Anchorage.
I hope to get around to most of them this year, this is the first for me.
Always a photo op someplace!

Now that\’s cool.  Around here most of the building have painting on them, too.  Graffiti!  There’s a small town between here and the mountains where they’ve done alot of murals and somehow the community pride seems to reduce the amount of tagging on those downtown buildings.  Does the Alaskan mystic keep the taggers and gang-bangers away, or do they mark their territory like stray alley cats up there as well?

Much as we love Calif. we often wonder if other towns and cities inland have the same problems we see here.
The general consensus seems to be we would need to go back in time fifty years rather than inland a couple thousand miles to get away from it. ??? Hopefully Alaska is better.
Thanks for another great photo, Steve.

Oh I love urban art! can wait to see the rest of them.  Thank you for sharing these. Are the murals done by the same artist? We have at least two in town, maybe I will be able to share them.

This is the Right way to do up buildings, not the "stuff" these punks leave everywhere in our citys  he he.

(I am catching up – was a little idle on the various blog issues).

Yes indeed, walruses are at the right place over there, aren\’t they ?
In Brussels we have lots of tags as well, unfortunately, but there are also comic strips on the buildings. I will try to find a link to them and convey it to you.

    Hello Steve,
I just love to see this kind of art on walls.  Some people find it offensive, and whilst i agree that some of it is rubbish and at times vulgar, the majority is extremely talented and very beautifully created.  Kids need many ways to express themselves, and the world has many walls, so why not allow them to have their fun.  Works like these seals in your picture should only be encouraged as far as i\’m concerned. If i had the confidence i would love to create scenes on walls around my town and liven the place up a bit ! Lovely picture Steve, i hope you manage to locate more and showcase these peoples art on your space for their benefit.  It gives a person great encouragement to learn that others appreciate their efforts.
    Take care,
    Love Mandy Marie xx
