First the dedication:
To a wonderful photographer I met on spaces when I was new, October 2006.
Barb (or Anni) lives in Edmonton Canada, and we frequently compare notes,
notes on bird photography, which she excells at so much, and I have learned bunches from her,
notes on flowers, the many similar types and blooms in Alberta and Alaska,
and of course life notes, we are what I consider good friends through our shared experience.
She is no longer on spaces at the moment, but still on Flickr photo web site.

There is surely something to be said for sleepless nights especially when I
landed here.. These shots made my morning!! I giggled at the singing
lessons and aww\’d at all the others 🙂

Oh! I am heading out on a week\’s trip of hiking in the smokey mountains and am so glad I stopped by, I want to wish Barb a very Happy Birthday! She has so enriched my life (like so many people here on spaces-you included. smile!).
I am looking forward to going away, but I am also looking forward to coming back and seeing what I have missed here!

Oh Steve I caught a few of these yesterday but I think I missed some. The one of the open mouthed baby is just adorable! I don\’t recognize the song but what a fun Summery song to ride along to with the top down.
I was going to point out that you look really good for the 1773 thing, but I wont. Cute pics of babies. Im still watching my two fawns in the back pasture. They hide in the weeds during the day, so now I have an excuse not to mow that area. Happy Birthday to Barb too. Good song……I saw them in Portland doing this song too. Good memories.

How wonderful you are! I love that you have given me the experience of Alaskan sunsets, Northern Lights, MOOSE (some day I will get one of them! lol) the beautiful and delicate flowers that pop up so fast and briefly fill the hills and mountainsides with their colour, the wonderful soaring Eagles and of course, Bonnie. Now, to that list, you add these beautiful and adorable little baby Gulls – something I have never had the chance to see here in Edmonton.
And you will never know how appropriate that song is (well, yes, maybe you do) 🙂

Yet another fantastic journey Steve. Yep, we are both just softies when it comes to our friends (old and new). This is obvious by your tribute to Barb\’s birthday. Also, I agree with you about healthy competition. It keeps us on our toes so long as it remains friendly. And yes, that bike ride is never far from mind. Now if I can just get the wife to agree! I\’m sure it will take some serious compromise…grin.

I\’m in awe of the beauty which surrounds you in Alaska; the lupines and wild geraniums are gorgeous and the wild rose (the state flower of Iowa) was so realistic I could imagine its fresh scent!
Your dediction on behalf of Barb\’s birthday was a lovely gesture and tribute to friendship which spans miles.

Hey Steve!! Thanks for your kind feedback on my Night Photography. If I am honest with you my images would look no where near as good if I was still using the Fujifilm S5600 which I had been shooting with for two years. It is only because that I now have the Nikon D40 which works just as hard as I do. Out of every thing in photography, i for one would chose Night Photography as it presents a real challenge to the photographer.

Awwww, so cute! I like birds and these pictures are fantastic. I like the one with the baby\’s beak open. Looks like he\’s telling you to stay back, or maybe he wants to eat. I love the way you capture the animals.
