Big Cat (Fantasy?)

The big cat was grooming and flexing her claws in anticipation of the hunt
 IMGP4696 Bonnie and The String

She sniffs for sign of prey but detects something much bigger, much more ominous… IMGP4697

Then in an instant the snake monster comes out of the air and in for a quick kill !!IMGP4701

This could be the end for the big cat if the snake monster gets it’s coils around her….

she crowches in a defensive position for a moment… IMGP4703

Then in a flash of fur, muscle and slashing talons and teeth she leaps up to meet the threat !IMGP4702

The big cat instinctively gets a claw grip…

and goes for a neck clinch as the death match continues IMGP4705

The big cat pulls the snake monster down out of its perch as she holds it in a death grip,

and sinks her teeth deep into its neck, penetrating the spinal nerve IMGP4704

In a strange calm the big cat relaxes by her now lifeless foe,

alert to any unlucky intruder that may stumble too near to the kill site,

perhaps becoming the next victim in the drama IMGP4700

No actual animals were harmed in this chronicalled re-enactment,

although all behaviors are garanteed 100% predator authentic.

Thanks to Bonnie (big cat 10 pounds),

string (which make endless trips as prey upstairs and back down).

And technology (wireless off camera flash strobes)

:-)I am in agreement with another blogger..cats have not forgotten that they were once considered gods.It is cats who allow us to be their friends.

  2. Sue says:

  3. Arctic says:

hahahaha, when i read the title, i thought must be some realy big cat rather than Bonnie though he is not small.
but i enjoyed your action shots and live story!

    good night my friend.

  4. Isabelle says:

    Impressive HUGE cat!!!!

I LOVE these animals….they are magestic and full of resources!!

If my boyfriend was more of an animal lover I would have a couple of them over the place!

After all that attacking, Bonnie looks like she needs a rest.  Fun show, thanks Steve and your star, Bonnie.

  7. JoAnn says:

Wasn\’t anticipating this although the word "fantasy" in your title should have been a big clue.  Bonnie is a beauty but I\’d be willing to bet she knows that.  Have a great day.

  8. Beth says:

I loved every bit of that.  Bonnie is one beautiful cat!

  9. kevin says:

I wonder if Bonnie visualizes a tiger or lion when she looks in the mirror?

  10. Flo says:

Ah, the thrill of the hunt, and relaxing in victory. Lovely cat.

  11. Patsy says:

Thanks Steve I enjoyed that very much. You see I lost my cat this week, he was 17 years old. I did a blog on him once. He was a good cat as I sure yours is. Bonnie is beautiful. Have a good week.

  12. Rambling says:

You KNOW I loved this!  I was truly impressed by that prowess…those gnashing teeth..that flashing sinewy strength showcased once again projecting terror into snakes EVERYWHERE!!!

By the way, you "got" it about the son coming up over the mountains…love that you did.  You have a good sense of humor.

  13. Ann says:

AAaaaaaaa!! Priceless! They are all cheetahs at heart, swift and deadly…just look at my legs! Well, if you could look at my legs you would see 5" claw marks from my "big cat caper"; she likes to attack me as I go up the stairs. Does Bonnie have an extra toe on each front paw? She is a Hemingway cat far from her Key West home?

  14. Evelyn says:

Bonnie is beautiful.  This is such a fun blog thank for sharing with us.

I saw "The big cat was grooming and flexing her claws in anticipation of the hunt", and was in anticipation of another of your jaw-dropping, awe-inspiring, wildlife photos. I laughed out loud when I saw the photos. Thanks, I needed that!   Much Love to You,   Jan

  18. Sheila says:

I love the way you told the story. YAY for the death of the snake monster! Way to go Bonnie! Cats are so awsome to watch as they "stalk" their toys, crouch for the pounce, and then go in for the "kill". I could watch them all day.

  19. Cat says:

LMAO!! oh I do so miss having a cat –

  20. I says:

LOL. I love cats. I especailly like BIG cats. You have such a beautiful cat. Great post!!

      xo T~

  21. Kenneth says:

lol… very well presented Steve.   the instincts are the same, regardless of size.   no difference between Bonnie and a lion, when it comes to administering the " Coup De grace".

  22. T says:

    hihihi … lovely!
    Bonnie is such a beauty!
    Hug,
    T

  23. Nae says:

    Hi Steve ~

Thanks for coming by and giving me your opinon!  I will continue to work on the bio-sketch — it may be the hardest piece for me!  I also think I will write two.  One for the Tlingit nation and one for the general population.  It is important, within the Tlingit nation, to know WHO the person is!

I love the photos of Bonnie!  What a great hunter!!!!  Such fun!  Thank you for taking the time to share your baby with us.

God bless you and keep you,
    Nae  :o)

  24. J W says:

Did Bonnie slay that binder clip I see laying lifeless behind her?  And how the heck do you manage to keep that carpet so white?….snow perhaps!!

    John

  25. Kuskulana says:

    John;
Good eye! I hardly notice little "prey" like that any more, yes I am sure that binder clip has died many unmercifull deaths!
Bonnie figures everything, and I mean everything, she can carry, drag or bat around is hers to play with. as far as the carpet, well we keep our play area clean you know, all the better to roll around on like a cat.

Anne, yes Bonnie actually has 2 extra toes on each front paw, complete with claws, although she can\’t flex those.
Interesting analogy about Hemingway I must say, Bonnie is precious at any rate and I am fortunate to know her!

  26. Monica says:

HA !! THAT WAS VERY CUTE !!
How is your summer going ??
    Your photos are exquisite…….I
    especially love your sunset ones..
I am a serenity, sunset type of sleepy
    lady myself  ~~~~~~~~
    take care !!
